My name is Simon Howarth. I am a fully qualified, fully registered, and experienced Person-Centred Psychotherapist and an Associate Psychotherapist at Therapy Unlimited.
My approach is Person-Centred, which means that you, the client, are at the heart of therapy and you are in control of what we talk about. I won’t give advice, or tell you what to do, or tell you what you can and can’t talk about. What I will do, is listen, give you space to talk and help develop a therapeutic relationship that enables us to work together on making changes in your life, or focusing on what it is you’re bringing to therapy.
I believe that each of us knows what we need, but that it can get lost, and we can feel adrift, stuck in situations that prevent us from living authentically. Counselling can help you find that direction, reconnect with yourself and what you need.
As a counsellor I have worked with people experiencing depression, anxiety, confidence and self-esteem, self-harm, relationship difficulties, sexual abuse and trauma, self-harm and suicidal thoughts and urges amongst other things. I have been in helping roles, predominantly around supporting people experiencing thoughts of suicide.
In addition to my work as a counsellor, I am a Clinical Supervisor for a mental health charity, a counselling supervisor and suicide intervention trainer
